The Director of the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution "Consensus" Elka Krasteva and the member of the Secretariat of the Center Stanislava Kasikova, within the framework of the implementation of the project "Consensus NETS", made a working visit to Portugal, visiting the Consumer Protection Association DECO. The organization has 7 regional structures, with the Bulgarian delegation visiting the offices in Lisbon and Porto. In the period 19-24.09.2024. the experts got acquainted in detail with the structure and activities of DECO. The Portuguese organization works actively with citizens to make them more informed, enlightened, aware and empowered to protect their consumer rights, to create a more innovative and competitive economy and a fairer and more sustainable society. The hosts presented in detail the structure and activities of the Association, which has 3 main pillars of action: information; training and education; consumer representation. DECO members can rely on free information and legal support on consumer issues, while other consumers pay a symbolic amount (to cover costs). The association provides financial advice to consumers in situations of special economic vulnerability or over-indebtedness. After a detailed analysis of the structure and activities of DECO, the team will use and apply in Bulgaria adapted experience in the field of consumer protection.
