Scope and application of the conciliation procedure

Since January 2016, amendments to the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) have enabled experts to provide legal assistance and resolve disputes by being registered by the Ministry of Justice as an alternative dispute resolution body, including online. With the norms introduced into the legislation in Sections II and III, Chapter Nine of the CPA, there is now a clearly established legal framework and structure for the operation of the conciliation procedure, which together with mediation creates opportunities for alternative resolution of consumer disputes in Bulgaria as well. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Directive and its transposition into the Consumer Protection Act created a legal framework and an opportunity for organizations and individuals to act as an alternative dispute resolution body, including through an online mediation platform between the parties:

In today's fast-paced world and with the opportunities that the Internet and technology create, investing time, money and energy in judicial dispute resolution for citizens, individuals or consumers is outdated. The formula for how to assert rights without it being absurdly expensive, time-consuming and unpredictable as a result has been proposed.
