In the period 27-31.05.2024, a training for trainers of judicial mediators was held in the building of the Union of Lawyers in Sofia. At the invitation of the Supreme Judicial Council, the director of the Consensus Center for Judicial Mediation, Elka Krasteva, took part in the training, and she actively participated in the process of discussing and developing both the methodology for training judicial mediators and the training program for 20 hours of advanced training regulated in REGULATION No. 10 OF OCTOBER 30, 2023 ON THE SELECTION, STATUS AND ACTIVITIES OF MEDIATORS IN COURT MEDIATION CENTERS.
Guest trainers were lawyer Maria Oliveira from Portugal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rimantas Simaitis from Lithuania, Bilyana Gyaurova-Vegertseder, Director of the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives Foundation, lawyer Liliya Georgieva - Deputy Chairman of the National Legal Aid Bureau, Judge Alexander Angelov from the Sofia City Court. Ms. Krasteva was certified as a trainer of court mediators.
From 01.07.2024, mandatory court mediation comes into force for certain types of cases in the field of property, family and contract law, with a claim value of up to 25,000 BGN, cases under the Condominium Property Act and the Commercial Code.
